Political literacy workshop as part of the BOLD program

In the period from April 28 to 30, the Association for the Development of Media and Civil Society gathered 23 young people in Sarajevo for a political literacy workshop.

A three-day workshop for young people was held with the aim of informing citizens from different local communities in Bosnia and Herzegovina about the political structure of our country. The participants had the opportunity to learn about the political system, laws, jurisdictions of institutions and how they, as citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, can participate in political processes.

The goal of the political literacy workshop was not only to educate young people, but also to encourage the development of critical thinking about everyday political events in our country. For the active participation of young people in decision-making processes, it is important to know how citizens can call the competent authorities to accountability and cooperation. Due to the need for additional information on this topic, the workshop started as an ex-cathedra, but what was of exceptional importance was the interaction of the lecturer with the participants. Through three days of working with young people, they were able to learn about the challenges they face in their communities.

Before coming to the workshop, the participants identified a problem based on which they created their civic initiative upon returning home. At the end of the workshop, the participants expressed their desire to actively engage in the decision-making process, and in this way to initiate the development process of their environment.
